Education Programme

Creative, stimulating and inclusive workshop experiences promote value and enjoyment of learning across the curriculum; the universal appeal of the Exhibition will inspire and engage children at all stages in education, from KS1 through to AS/A2 Levels. Workshops, educational shows, hands-on displays and interactive areas will all inspire and excite young minds. A full, cross-curricular linked education programme, delivered by an expert team, will enhance educational visits.

What can you do on your visit? 

There are three different types of activities available: 

  • Discovery Visit in the main exhibition gallery
  • Hands-on creative workshops in the Trench Education room
  • Trench Time Detectives

Each activity lasts 45 minutes. You can choose one or a combination of activities to make up your visit. To get the most out of the visit, we recommend you try at least one of each of the above options.

Discovery Visit

A Discovery Visit is a guided tour, with activities, of the Remembering 1916 – Life on the Western Front exhibition. This will help young people learn more about the key events and themes of the First World War, including the Treaty of Versailles and women's suffrage. 

Creative Workshops

A programme of creative, stimulating and inclusive curriculum-linked workshops has been developed to ensure your students get the most out of their visit. The exciting and hands-on learning experience caters for pupils of all ages and abilities.

Trench Time Detectives (Curriculum Links: History, Science)

Whatever the weather, pupils can experience the multi-sensory learning opportunity of a replica British trench.
