Events: ’Cello Recital by Tim Posner
Sunday 13 March
4pm, Concert Hall
FREE admission (by reserving a place only)
Old Whitgiftian, Tim Posner, returns to Whitgift to perform a rich programme of virtuosic music from the ’cello repertoire. Tim, now studying at the Hanover University of Music, in Germany, made his debut concerto performance at the age of 14, playing Hungarian Rhapsody by Popper, at Fairfield Halls in Croydon. In 2011, Tim gave the world première of Via Crucis, written for him and his mother (Julia Desbruslais, multiple award-winning ’cellist) by William McVicker. Later that year, he performed Tchaikovsky's Rococo Variations at Cadogan Hall, with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Whitgift Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Philip Winter. As a chamber musician, Tim regularly plays in various ensembles and has given recitals across Europe, alongside renowned orchestras. Tim’s recital will come at the end of the ’Cello Day, in which ’cello students from Whitgift, and the Croydon community, will perform in groups and enjoy masterclasses with world-leading ’cellists.
