The Entrance Examination takes place in early January and parents are notified of exact timings in late December.  Boys are invited in for the whole day, with lunch provided, and sit their examination in small groups.  The examination consists of tests in Mathematics, English and Verbal Reasoning for 10+, 11+ and 12+, while 13+ and 14+ applicants sit tests in Mathematics, English and Science.  Section Française applicants will also sit a test in French.  Those boys whose first language is not English may also be required to sit an examination in English as an Additional Language (EAL).

Following the examination, all boys who are being considered for an offer will be invited to Whitgift for an interview.  Those who are being considered for a Sport/Drama/Design Technology and Engineering/Art/Music Scholarship will also be asked to attend an assessment/audition.  These will take place towards the end of January.  Every boy who sits the Entrance Examination is automatically considered for an Academic Scholarship.
